I received Vessis in exchange for this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have been a Vessi wearer for a few years now. I originally bought my Vessi waterproof shoes because I needed a shoe that was versatile enough to handle the weather in British Columbia (where we live) yet also be comfortable enough for a 3 week vacation in Europe.
We travel with carry on backpacks and typically only bring one pair of comfortable walking shoes and one pair of sandals. Having an all around, lightweight travel shoe that can handle any weather is essential when you have limited packing space.
To date I have 3 pairs of Vessis – The Women’s Weekend, the CityScape Classic and the Uptown Chelsea Boot.

Here are my thoughts on the Vessi styles I own:
Women’s Weekend – Marble White (2022)
(Retails for $135 CAD)
I bought my first pair of Vessis in October of 2022, a pair of Women’s Weekend shoes in Marble White. I chose these because of the versatile casual style that, in my opinion, goes with everything! They are very comfortable, almost like wearing slippers so these tend to be my go-to shoes, rain or shine.
The white colour does get dirty quite fast (which is true of all white shoes) but the good thing about all Vessi shoes is that they can be thrown in the washing machine and come out quite clean.

Women’s Cityscape Classic – Birch White (2025)
(Retails for $120 CAD)
These shoes are very lightweight which is probably my favourite feature about them. That and the fact that I can just slip them on, no tying of laces needed.
I needed a good pair of travel shoes that would be light and easy to carry as we only travel with carry on backpacks. These fit the bill perfectly and are comfortable and supportive enough to wear all day sightseeing.

Women’s Uptown Chelsea – Black on Black (2025)
(Retails for $175 CAD)
These boots are great in all conditions. I ordered the black colour so that I could navigate both muddy puddles and slushy winter roads. These conditions are not very forgiving for lighter colours. I have worn them throughout the winter months here in Canada and my feet stayed perfectly warm.

The Uptown Chelsea boots are more of an everyday boot rather than a hiking boot but would certainly do well on easy trails without a lot of incline. They slip on very easily and are snug but not stiff so your toes can still move around. I wear them to the grocery store, to pick up kids and to walk the trails on a rainy day. They can certainly do it all!
Frequently Asked Questions Answered
How Do They Fit?
These shoes are meant to fit snug when you first get them. Almost like a sock. I normally wear a 7.5 but read that I should size down if I was between sizes. The 7 was a perfect fit in the Women’s Weekend style.
However, I was a little surprised by how snug the Uptown Chelsea Boots felt compared to the Weekend style, and I honestly thought I might have ordered the wrong size. So, I reached out to my contact at Vessi to see if I should return them for a larger size. She reassured me that they’d stretch out with a bit of wear, and she was absolutely right! After a few wears, they were just as comfortable as my Weekend shoes.
The CityScape Classics were similarly a bit tighter than the Weekends, but even more so than the Chelsea boots. If I were to order the CityScape Classics again, I’d definitely size up since this style runs a bit narrow. Still comfortable but if you have a wide foot like me I would suggest sizing up in this style if you are between sizes.
How Do I Clean Them?
I followed the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning. First using baking soda and vinegar with a microfibre cloth to get most of the dirt out. Then I rinsed them well and threw them through a regular cycle in the washing machine. They came out beautifully. Just remember to let them air dry, don’t put them in the dryer.

Are They Really 100% Waterproof?
They are! I have tested these in puddles, streams and even at the beach. They certainly keep my feet dry in a variety of situations.
This should go without saying, but don’t submerge them as the water will come over the top of the shoe and you will end up with wet feet. This is not how these shoes are meant to be used.

Are They Comfortable?
Of all the styles that I have I would say the Weekend shoes are the most comfortable and as such, I wear them almost everyday. It didn’t take a lot to break them in and they have been comfortable from the start.
The Uptown Chelsea Boots and the CityScape Classics took a little longer to break in (likely because of my wider feet) but after a few wears were completely fine. All three styles are very comfortable and my feet never get sore.
Do You Need To Wear Socks With Them?
Vessi shoes are are made of a patented Dyma-tex technology keeping your feet cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They are designed to transfer sweat away from your feet which is great if you prefer not to wear socks.
I personally always wear socks with my shoes, usually just little invisible ankle sock at the very least. That being said, there have been a few times where I have worn them without socks. I found them to be quite breathable and my feet didn’t get stinky while wearing them.

How Long Do They Last?
Vessi offers a 1 year warranty on factory defects. I have had my original pair of Vessis for 2.5 years now and they have minimal wear on them. I wear them almost everyday and they are still going strong in 2025!
Why Vessi?
What drew me to Vessi originally was the claim that these shoes were 100% waterproof and also extremely comfortable. That was the hook!
But then when I dove a little deeper into the company, I realized they were a Canadian, Vancouver based company, made with 100% vegan material and had a commitment to sustainability throughout all their practices. This is honestly what sealed the deal for me.
They are also committed to 100% recycled packaging without any plastic!

My final thoughts on Vessi waterproof shoes:
These shoes are well made by a sustainable company and come in a variety of styles to suit every need. They have stood up to the waterproof test in a variety of settings and are honestly the most comfortable shoes I own. Vessis should be the go-to shoe for anyone looking for a lightweight comfortable shoe that can do it all, rain or shine!
